This election has me baffled. I see the polls – one has the race tied, and the others give Obama a ten or eleven-point lead. Yet, everybody I talk to – Liberal and Conservative alike – are talking about Joe the Plumber and are debating the question of if Obama’s plans are Socialism by another name. (They are.) I think the election is gonna be way closer than everybody seems to think – and I still believe, in my heart of hearts – that McCain’s gonna win.
Here’s the deal. I believe that a combination of factors will lead to Obama getting to go back to work in the Senate, licking his wounds. First, I think he peaked too early. I still think the ACORN thing is gonna blow up in his face. And most importantly, Joe the Plumber opened a can o’ worms that will simply not go away.
The question is, how are the spoiled brats in the media and on the Left going to react when Obama manages to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory? Will they be content with owning Congress? Will they find a way to contest the election, and tie things up in the courts? Will there be rioting in the streets (as they’ve threatened in several places across the country)?
I read today where some McCain campaign worker was mugged, and the bandit carved a letter “B” in her face when he saw the McCain/Palin bumper stickers on her car. Makes me wanna go put a McCain sticker on my Jeep. I’m not looking for trouble, but I’ve been told more than once that, at 6’4″ and 250 lbs, I tend to intimidate people who don’t know me. I don’t want to seek out any militant Obama fans, but I would not back down if confronted.
You see, it’s our right as Americans to support the candidate of our choice. You have your guy – I have mine. I don’t agree with Obama’s politics, but I have absolutely nothing against the man. If I saw him, I wouldn’t be booing, or trying to drown him out. I wish those on the left had the same kind of restraint. In the end, I think that’s what will undo Obama. I think the fact that the Lefties are already starting to celebrate and are looking at reinstalling the revolving door on the Lincoln bedroom that will cause the undecideds to start doubting that their guy is the right man for the job. Nothing says “you’re not ready for the bigs” like watching you and your team get overconfident and cocky. Will Obama take the crown, or will McCain save us from at least four years of Socialism? I dunno, but my money is on McCain. May the best man (for the country) win.
